Welcome to a new season, and the new issue of Badlands Journal. Nostalgia felt like the perfect theme for Issue 05 – as creatives, we often reflect upon the past, both for lessons and inspiration, and there is always a story to be told when it comes to looking back.

This issue also comes at a very pivotal time in my personal life, as I prepare to become a mother and embrace the many changes coming my way. We photographed model Rosie Tupper with her gorgeous daughter Mozes for the cover, and the two of us chatted about motherhood, childhood and finding balance.

Hannah-Rose Yee muses on what makes the perfect rom com film wardrobe by looking back at the classics (and speaking with the costume designer of cult holiday favourite, The Holiday), Natalie Mell chats to Brooke Testoni about her personal and interiors style which includes a penchant for mid century vintage pieces, and her own accessories brand, Rylan.

We also profile artist Hannah Nolan, whose abstract paintings tell beautiful visual tales, and explore the art of travel by rail – nostalgia at its finest.
