HOMEWARD BOUND

Dress, AJE

It’s time to switch things up and look for style inspiration a little more locally…

Forget street style images and runway trends, when it comes to getting dressed, Australia’s cultural landscape is brimming with style ideas to explore.

Take cult ’70s film Picnic At Hanging Rock, which offers an enchanting Edwardian-meets-outback aesthetic that’s all about the long white dress. Cut to today, and a collaboration between homegrown label Aje and the Brett Whiteley Studio fuses the iconic artist’s work with the brand’s statement silhouettes.

For a more abstract approach, earthy hues and organic lines riff on the local scenery, and even sun-drenched days synonymous with the Australian summer offer an on-point outfit starting point by necessitating a wide-brim hat.
