In A Slip
The dress style we’re living in this Summer
February is always the time of the year when I’m starting to exhaust my summer dressing options. The heat and humidity are no longer a novelty, and I’m looking for simple, quick and effortless dressing options to see me through the heatwaves. I know I shouldn’t complain about Summer when it’s v. chilly in most parts of the world (sorry Northern Hemisphere!), but for the last month of super high temps and plentiful sunshine at home, slip dresses are front and centre in my wardrobe.
Why do I love them so much? It’s simple, really – a slip with sandals and a woven tote is a perfect holiday (or holiday-at-home) look. Swap in a pair of sneakers and you have my go-to weekend look. If it’s dinner and drinks, or one of Summer’s many events and parties, then a kitten heel and a statement earring make a flawless day to night out outfit transition. What’s not to love!?
If you feel the need to slip into more slips, here are a few of our favourites…

PROTAGONIST
Protagonist is a ready-to-wear brand brought to you by the same aesthetically-minded team behind The Line – they of The Apartment by The Line, everyone’s Instafavourite residence-turned-shop in NYC and LA. Their designs seamlessly combine form, fit and style, meaning you’ll have a timeless addition to your wardrobe – and we love the quality too. I’m particularly a fan of their draped neckline slip dress – Michelle Pfeiffer in Scarface anyone?

BEC + BRIDGE
An Aussie favourite, B+B offers fun, contemporary designs mixed in with wearable wardrobe essentials. I always look to them for a cute print (they do great spots, gingham and stripes), but this classic style of slip, which they produce every season, is a great never-fail to have on rotation. The raw edge and adjustable straps are a bonus.

Dress, Silk Laundry; Earrings, Ellery; Heels, Mode Collective
SILK LAUNDRY
Designer Katie Kolodinski started Silk Laundry when she noticed a gap in her wardrobe for elevated silk basics. From there, the Australian-owned label have crafted simple silk slips and camis in a range of exceptionally flattering fits and colours. Another fact of note; their team work semi off the grid at their sustainable Queensland HQ, with water supplied by the rain, free-roaming chickens, a bee hive, and regular koala visitors. We love a purchase we can feel good about!
So, what are you waiting for? Add those babies into your wardrobe rotation, or your holiday packing list.

A slip dress is my go-to in summer as well. Especially in February when, as you said, the novelty has definitely worn off!
